Electrolysis has been trusted since 1875 — and it remains the only clinically proven method of true, lasting hair removal for every skin tone and hair color.
Electrolysis has been around since 1875 and is the only FDA-approved method of true permanent hair removal. Unlike laser or IPL, it works on all hair colors and every skin tone.
Here's how they compare — side by side.
Eyebrows, upper lip, chin, sideburns, ears — areas where precision matters most. The only method safe enough for use around the eyes.
Blonde, gray, white, and red hair cannot be targeted by laser. Electrolysis treats every hair color without exception.
We work with you compassionately through the journey. Hormonal conditions may take longer — we set real expectations and support you throughout.
Laser cannot safely treat tattooed areas. Electrolysis removes hair from fully healed tattooed skin without affecting the ink underneath.
No risk of burns or hyperpigmentation. Electrolysis is safe, effective, and reliable across all skin types and complexions.
If you're ready to stop shaving, waxing, and threading forever — electrolysis is your answer. A plan for permanent freedom, not another short-term fix.
A licensed electrologist gently inserts an ultra-fine probe — often thinner than the hair itself — into the natural opening of the follicle alongside the hair shaft.
A tiny, controlled electrical current is then applied to permanently destroy the hair growth cells at the root. No root. No regrowth. Ever.
Session length: 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the area and hair density. Clients who follow their recommended treatment plan can typically expect to be hair-free within 18 months.
Each modality works differently to permanently destroy the hair growth cells. Your licensed electrologist will recommend the right approach for your skin, hair type, and comfort level at your consultation.
A chemical process where direct current creates a reaction called LYE within the follicle — chemically dissolving the hair growth cells for permanent removal.
Also known as shortwave or flash thermolysis. Uses precisely controlled heat energy to destroy the follicle. Intensity and timing are tailored to your hair and skin.
A combination of Galvanic and Thermolysis — heat and chemistry working together for enhanced effectiveness, particularly for curved or distorted follicles.
Before we treat a single hair, we take time to understand your skin, your hair, your health history, and your goals — then build a plan designed specifically for you, and walk you through all your package options.

Electrolysis has gained popularity over the last few years, however, it has been around since 1875, and has proven effective in permanent hair removal. As a matter of fact, Electrolysis is the ONLY FDA-Approved method of true Permanent Hair Removal.
Electrolysis is the perfect choice for small areas such as: eyebrows, face, chin, ears, underarms and so on. It is the only treatment that can safely be used around the eyes.
Electrolysis can treat all skin and hair types and hair colors including: blonde, gray/white, and red hairs, which cannot be treated with Lasers or IPL.
Electrolysis can be used to treat over tattoos, which you cannot do with Laser/IPL. We are also able to treat individual isolated areas, without interfering with surrounding hairs.
When performed correctly and using the correct modality, there is no risk of scarring or pigmentation issues.

Electrolysis is done by a Licensed Electrologist and it utilizes as very fine probe (usually thinner than the hair being treated) into the natural opening of the hair follicle alongside the hair shaft. A tiny amount of electrical current is then applied to destroy the hair growth cells.

There are 3 methods that can be used to effectively destroy the hair growth cells.
Galvanic electrolysis: a chemical process, where the direct current creates a chemical reaction in the hair follicle called LYE, which eliminates the hair growth cells.
Thermolysis: A.k.a short wave or flash thermolysis, produces heat and destroys the hair growth cells. A higher intensity can be applied for less time or a lower current may be used for a longer timing.
The Blend: A combination of both Galvanic and Thermolysis currents work together to create a blend of heat and chemical reaction to eliminate the hair growth factors.

Depending on the area to be treated and how much hair is in the area, it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour. Those people who follow the recommended treatment plan can expect to be hair free within 18 months. HOWEVER, this is simply an estimate as there are other factors that may interfere with this timeframe such as: hair growth cycles, heredity, hormone function, certain medications and stressors.
Other factors such as excessive hair growth (hirsutism) can range from fine, vellus hair to dark, coarse hairs on the face and body. Sometimes things like PCOS can interfere with the length of treatments and medical opinion is necessary. Those clients who suffer from PCOS or have been diagnosed with any other hormonal imbalances will need to exercise patience during the hair removal process, as this can take longer than most.
